Modern developers expect a lot from their user interface widget toolkit/library. Here are some toolkits or libraries that developers may be familiar with:
- Qt - a cross-platform C++ GUI application framework.
- Swing - the Java cross-platform GUI library.
The GE widget library can be extended with elements from these other libraries or from other elements from our imaginations. Properly adding new elements can enhance the developer and user experience in BeOS. Adding elements from existing cross-platform libraries will ultimately make it easier and more attractive for developers to port those cross-platform libraries to BeOS.
