Browsing on the internet opens oneself up to all manner of nasties. There are all sorts of possible privacy issues with browsing. Here's an incomplete list:
- Cookies
- Webbugs
- TLS, SSL, and general transport mechanisms
- javascript
- Cache (especially on disk)
- Bookmarks
- Website passwords
- Credit card numbers
- Shipping addresses
Some may even consider advertisements an invasion of their privacy.
A lot of these issues are probably the realm of the web application. Are there any that the operating system could or should help out with? Perhaps crypto support somehow to make it easy to protect files.
