Phase 1 - Recreate the GUI : Look and Feel (DETAILED)
  • main window
    -most widgets in place
-dynamic resizing in place, and working nicely. Integrated into settings so the current state of the window is retrieved and displayed properly. UI elements in place. It's alive ;) The hard part is over, now the fun begins :-) Come on netkit team, what's taking you so long? ;)

  • modem window
-needs some tidying up, not all connection speed available, etc. Some users have reported that it is blank for them and controls do not show up until they are pressed.

  • new modem window

  • custom modem window

  • connection name window

  • settings window

-done, just tidy up the Server Type BPopUpMenu so it reads values from /boot/beos/etc/servers.ppp if necessary

  • Deskbar Replicant
I've started a BASIC Deskbar Replicant that is separate from the main app for now. Added a few items to its popup menu. It has a bug though. If you click one of the items in the menu, then click a few times the actual bview of the replicant in the Deskbar, after you click ok to the alert, it will crash. Don't know how to fix this.

New Connection File Format

  • PhoneNumber - the connection's Phone Number - BString ?
  • Username - the connection's User Name - BString ?
  • Password - the connection's Password - BString ? using no encryption
  • chkSavePassword - State of the CheckBox - SavePassword - Bool
  • chkStaticIPAddress - State of the CheckBox - StaticIPAddress - Bool
  • StaticIPAddress - the connection's Static IP Address - BString ?
  • PrimaryDNS - the connection's Primary DNS (Should we add a button to auto retrieve these ?)
  • SecondaryDNS - the connection's Secondary DNS
  • ServerType - the connection's Server Type ie. Standard PPP, etc.

Author Notes

Also: (here) is some more info, the current source tree, which is updated regularly.

And remember, I am new to programming on the BeOS and am already a little proficient, so any help/guidance is very appreciated :D
-misza
Wait: that was a silly typo :PPP
I am not new to the BeOS, been using since R4.5 :D

Sikosis - Well I'm not new to BeOS, just new to C++ coding and the BeAPI, so I'm learning too. You'll probably grasp things quicker as you're learning C++ at Uni, whilst I'm slowly learning from a book.
