I am an artist and musician that came into contact with BeOS sometime in the year 2000. Sick and tired of windows, I decided to give linux Mandrake a try.

One desktop manager included with mandrake was called Enlightenment, which had a BeOS theme. Intrigued by the unusual looking windows, I decided to surf on over to the Be Inc. website and check it out! This was about the time they came out with personal edition so I downloaded it and tried it out. It installed very easily but unfortunately it did not support my USB keyboard and mouse. But the sound was there!

Undaunted, I grabbed an old serial mouse I had lying around and hooked it up and rebooted! I was hooked! I actually ran it for almost a year without a keyboard (try that with Linux!!) and have never seen an OS so easy to use!! The realtime audio was like a godsend!!! As soon as I could afford to, I bought a second hand Pionex computer with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Naturally I tried BeOS on it before buying. I then proceeded to design my BeOS sound system around it.

I have a background in audio engineering and graphic arts and use BeOS almost exclusively for my home recording and music creation work. I would really like to see it eventually replace windows for my graphics work as well!! I also love to test new software and use BeBits as my homepage so I never miss a new app!!

I will use BeOS until I cannot find hardware to run it anymore and will continue to buy and use software for it. (Especially sound and graphics apps!)

You can find me on Beshare under the name sasquatch666 and you can get some of my original BeOS wallpapers over at webshots in the community pages under sasquatch666_
