BeIA Experiments...
Here are some interesting BeIA experiments:
It dawned on me that BeIA shares the same basic vintage as BeOS R4.5.. indeed the tracker about screen (when you quit Wagner) is that of BeOS R4.5.
I decided to see how far this goes...
- You can run most of the R4.5 prefs. The ones that don't work are: any of the sound ones, any of the media ones, VM (Don't run this as it seems to then crash the os on rebooting), Fonts - crashes the app server on exit. I also ran ShowImage, Poorman, pulse, Terminal (woot!), DiskProbe, Expander, Magnify, People and CDPlayer (not tried with audio CD though...)
- most of the command line apps work - most importantly sh (bash) though you *must* rename the R4.5 sh to bash to use, and BeIA will fail to boot to Wagner/Tracker if the wrong shell is installed.
- Zeta RC3 install CD's boot menu will recognise and boot from a CFS volume! Any RC3 still includes the CFS FS add on too (naughty yT) so you can mount CFS drives (which saved me, I can tell you!!)
More to come as and when I find stuff out ;-)
