The BeBox
A Computer made by Be Inc. from 1991 to 1997
The BeBox is considered to be one of the Ultimate Geek Computers of the 90's it is also very Rare ranging just over 1800 Computers.
The BeBox comes in a few different Speeds
- The Original Hobbit BeBox running on 2 AT&T Hobbit Processors and 3 AT&T DSP chips
- Dual PPC 66Mhz (Most BeBoxes out there are Dual 66Mhz)
- Dual PPC 117Mhz (Incredibly Rare)
- Dual PPC 133Mhz (2nd most common and certainly more expensive)
- Dual PPC 200Mhz (This is where the BeBox ended 5 made according to Joseph Palmer)
Joseph Palmer also revealed that he was working on a quad processor 604 based BeBox at the time Be pulled out of the hardware game.
All except the Original Hobbits feature the Blinken Lights, a real time display of processor usage. Pulse is based on this technology.
The Geek Port, a proprietary port that allows the user to make special hardware. it features fuses, incase your project screws up
The BeBox is also the reigning champion of Computer that ships with the most ports.
The BeBox is Compatible up to BeOS R5Pro, (depending on your motherboard revision. Older models can only run lesser versions of BeOS. see "When I try to update the flash ROM, I get an error message..." for more info.)
